To a lot of painters, rendering realistic flesh can be very intimidating but does it really have to be? Over the years I’ve learned that the key to this is rendering multiple layers of translucent filters over the top of multiple layers of light mottling. Don’t worry, it’s actually pretty simple. Using my trusty Iwata HP-CS Eclipse along with several inks/washes like Carroburg Crimson and Violet Ink, I’ll demonstrate how to employ a spattered spray pattern that we will use to achieve this and of course how to further enhance the result with a couple Ak Interactive products and the ever-reliable reductive technique.
