Welcome to the Genestealer Cults series: Cult of the Leper God.
This course will start by laying the foundations for our narrative for the Cult of the Leper God, displaying how to lay down the initial steps to create a world or set of characters with the use of references and concept boards.
After that, we can start building our characters and give them an identity, with a build guide that focuses on creating a dystopian gothic punk aesthetic, and subsequently paint all the models – Acolyte Hybrids, Aberrant, and Genestealers, revisited to fit the lore with a body horror feel.
Lastly, we explore vehicles, tanks, and characters using bits and pieces from scale modelling kits for a more grounded look.

Course Curriculum
EPISODE 1 – Course Overview and Introduction
The first Episode of this course will start by laying the foundations for our narrative for the Cult of the Leper God, displaying how to lay down the initial steps to create a world or set of characters with the use of references and concept boards. This first tutorial will put you in the right mood and mindset for the rest of the series.
EPISODE 3 – Acolytes Painting
In this Episode, we paint all the Acolytes in the Grimdark style, focusing on the palette and mood established previously. Engine grease, diesel stains, mud, and smog.
EPISODE 4 – Aberrant Painting
In this Episode, we paint the Aberrant in the Grimdark style, focusing on the palette and mood established previously. Engine grease, diesel stains, mud, and smog. The focus remains on creating interesting surface finish variation and replicating the look of weathered materials.
EPISODE 5 – Genestealers
In this Episode, we re-imagine the Genestealers with a body horror mindset. Changing the physiology and behavior and painting them accordingly – creating some of the most unsettling miniatures you will ever see.
EPISODE 6 – Assault Vehicle | Scalehammer
We introduce you to the concept of “Scalehammer”, mixing Warhammer bits and historical scale model vehicles to create an assault truck for the Genestealer Cults.
This video explains the philosophy, build, and detailing process, as well as a paint scheme. Focusing on weathering effects and surface finish variation.
